Wanita DAP calls for release of pardons board minutes

Wanita DAP chief Teo Nie Ching has called on the government to release the official minutes of the pardons board meeting where the decision to grant a conditional pardon to Najib Razak was made. Teo expressed the need for the public to have complete clarity on the considerations and processes that led to the decision. This call came after DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook announced his resignation as transport minister in response to the conditional pardon.

Loke said that his decision was not made lightly, demonstrating his courage and wisdom as a leader. Teo highlighted that his resignation reflects DAP's long-standing principle on the matter. Earlier, Loke had stated that he would be the sole DAP leader to resign over the conditional pardon, citing the need to maintain political stability.

Prime Minister Najib Razak, 73, has been allowed to serve the remainder of his six-year jail sentence at home, provided he pays a RM50 million fine in connection with his SRC International case. The conditional pardon was granted by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, following a meeting of the Federal Territories Pardons Board.
