UAE launches Cybrani initiative to help students develop cyber security skills

The United Arab Emirates has launched a national initiative called Cybrani to provide students with essential cyber security skills required for the rapidly growing digital economy. The UAE Cyber Security Council, working alongside the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, unveiled the Cybrani Practical Training Initiative at the Gisec Global 2026 event in Dubai.

The program aims to close the gap between academic learning and industry demands by engaging students in real-world cyber security challenges and offering them professional guidance.

Participating in this initiative are various government bodies, academic institutions, and private sector organizations. In the initial phase, industry partners such as Abu Dhabi Police, CPX, Core42, Fortinet, and Cyber50 Defence, along with government entities like the Mawaheb Talent Hub of the Department of Government Enablement, will be involved.

Seven universities, namely Khalifa University, UAE University, Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, Zayed University, and Higher Colleges of Technology, will also take part in this program.

The training will cover seven key areas: governance, risk, and compliance; cyber security operations; cyber threat intelligence; digital forensics and incident response; secure software development; and artificial intelligence in cyber security. Students will have the opportunity to benefit from networking opportunities and hands-on experience through practical projects under the supervision of industry professionals.

Upon successfully completing the program, participants will receive a certificate of completion, endorsed by both the Cyber Security Council and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The UAE Cyber Security Council will oversee the coordination of participating organizations and facilitate the placement of students in training programs. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research will ensure the alignment of university engagement with the country's national education goals. This initiative is part of the UAE's wider strategy to develop cyber security skills among the younger generation and support its ongoing digital transformation efforts.
