Over the past few months, there has been a renewed push for peace in Warri, with the kings of the area leading the charge. The kings, representing three indigenous ethnic groups - Itsekiri, Ijaw and Urhobo - have been holding amicable meetings aimed at peacebuilding and harmonious coexistence. This is a stark contrast to the past, which saw years of bitterness and acrimony leading to violence, death, and destruction.

The Olu of Warri Kingdom, Ogiame Atuwatse III, recently praised the kings, saying their efforts reveal a simple truth - that far more unites them than divides them. The monarchs agreed to work together to foster an atmosphere of peace and cooperation and called on all stakeholders and community leaders to support these efforts. The indigenous tribes and residents of Warri have warmly welcomed these positive engagements, hoping they will herald a new template of cooperation, peace and progress for the area.
