SRM University-AP launches global innovation society to promote collaborative research

SRM University-AP in Andhra Pradesh has established the UNITES Global Innovation Society to foster global collaboration among scientists, academics, industry professionals, government representatives, and young researchers. The society, founded by the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research (CIDR) at SRM University-AP, aims to promote research, innovation, scientific exchange, and public engagement through a challenge-oriented approach.

The event was inaugurated in Vijayawada, with APSCHE Chairman S. Vijaya Bhaskara Rao emphasizing the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration to bridge the gap between scientific research, higher education, and society.

UNITES President Achanta Venu Gopal called for increased collaboration among researchers to transform India's scientific capabilities into practical, indigenous solutions for local and global challenges. SRM University-AP Vice-Chancellor Ch. Satish Kumar highlighted the need to unite diverse expertise to develop meaningful solutions for complex societal problems.

IISER Thiruvananthapuram's Vijayamohanan K. Pillai stressed the importance of preparing young scientists to address emerging challenges in clean energy, water, sustainability, and environmental protection.

The society's inaugural event, UNITES 2026 – Uniting Interdisciplinary Trends in Emerging Science, will take place from December 27 to 29, focusing on "Physics at the Interfaces of Matter, Light and Life." The event will also feature VIGYAN SETU – National Science & Technology Expo, connecting students, teachers, and the public with scientific research, emerging technologies, and hands-on demonstrations.

Eminent scientists and academicians, including representatives from IIT Hyderabad, the University of Hyderabad, DMRL, Hyderabad, IIT Bombay, IISc Bengaluru, and SRM University-AP, were present at the inauguration.
