Smith sets Ohio State career receiving mark as 6th-ranked Buckeyes roll past Kent State 59-3

Jeremiah Smith claimed the Ohio State career receiving yardage record during a dominant 59-3 victory over Kent State on Saturday. Sixth-ranked Buckeyes quarterback Julian Sayin completed 18 of 22 passes for 242 yards and two touchdowns. Smith, who needed just 26 yards to surpass Michael Jenkins' 2,898-yard mark, set the new record with his second catch of the contest.

Ohio State's first touchdown came on a 11-yard run by Ja'Kobi Jackson, the team's leading rusher with 73 yards on the day. The Buckeyes took control early, scoring on their first four drives, and maintained a strong lead throughout the game. Kent State, who had not crossed midfield until late in the first half, eventually scored a touchdown and a field goal, but the damage was already done.

Ohio State, who faced a roughing the passer penalty from Kent State, will now look to maintain their winning streak against Illinois next Saturday.
