Sean Burke and Miguel Vargas help the White Sox beat the Tigers 3-1

The Chicago White Sox secured a crucial 3-1 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Saturday, marking a much-needed win for the struggling team. Pitcher Sean Burke led the charge, tossing six innings of quality work while allowing just one run and five hits. Miguel Vargas added to the White Sox's effort by hitting a powerful home run, contributing to their winning run.

Detroit, on the other hand, left 11 runners on base, extending their losing streak to four games. Nonetheless, Jackson Jobe managed to strike out nine Tigers in his six innings of pitching. After trailing 2-1, the Tigers managed to load the bases in the sixth inning; however, a wild pitch to Brett Callahan and subsequent video review determined that the ball had hit Callahan after he had swung and missed, resulting in Greene being returned to third base.

Callahan then struck out, putting an end to the inning. Trailing by one run, Sean Burke entered the eighth inning, replacing Noah Schultz. With two men on base, Taylor stepped in and struck out Eduardo Valencia on a bouncer to first, sealing the win for the White Sox. The game began later than scheduled due to thunderstorm forecasts for the night.

Chicago now finds themselves in second place in the AL Central, one game behind Cleveland in the division and third in the wild-card standings. This win brings them closer to potentially becoming the first team in MLB history to make the playoffs after finishing with at least 100 losses in each of the past two seasons.
