Raichur ZP CEO Ishwar Kumar Kandoo instructs officers to conduct crop loss assessment in drought-hit areas

Raichur Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Ishwar Kumar Kandoo has instructed officials from various departments to conduct a crop loss assessment in drought-stricken regions. This assessment is crucial to ensure timely compensation for farmers, as the survey must be finalized before the harvest of the remaining crops. Kandoo emphasized that any errors or inaccuracies in the assessment could result in a significant reduction of compensation owed to farmers.

The chief executive also addressed the pressing issue of drinking water scarcity in the district, directing officials to devise a comprehensive plan to provide water to vulnerable villages through private borewells and other means. The State government has already allocated ₹1 crore per Assembly constituency to address this crisis.

In terms of irrigation, Kandoo indicated that Revenue and Panchayat Raj department officials would monitor the water flow in the Tungabhadra Left Bank Canal and ensure it reaches tail-end farmers through a rotational schedule. To enhance basic infrastructure and maintain streetlights in rural areas, Kandoo ordered officials to launch a campaign to recover outstanding tax dues owed to local bodies.

The officials were also tasked with conducting a door-to-door survey of household toilets in the district by October 2. During the meeting, Kandoo distributed safety kits to local personnel and the public to prepare them for natural disasters, fire hazards, and flood emergencies. Funds from the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board have been approved for a scheme supplying nutritious food to anganwadis through the ‘Poushtika Raichur’ initiative.

Additionally, NITI Aayog has released funds to establish a 'Shakti Kendra' in Maski taluk under the Aspirational Blocks Programme. Kandoo assured immediate usage of these funds and emphasized the importance of adhering to the terms and conditions.
