Qatar Chamber, UNESCO discuss cooperation on Innovation and AI

The Qatar Chamber and UNESCO convened to explore avenues for collaboration in the realms of innovation, technology, and artificial intelligence (AI) ethics. The meeting, held during the 4th Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, aimed to strengthen ties between the two entities. Discussions centered on promoting the responsible use of emerging technologies by private-sector institutions, with a focus on harnessing AI while ensuring its ethical and responsible application.

Both parties emphasized the necessity of establishing practical frameworks to facilitate companies, including small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups, in adopting AI practices that align with ethical standards. As a result, groundwork was laid for a cooperative agreement between the Qatar Chamber and UNESCO, centered on AI governance, ethics training, knowledge exchange, and joint private-sector initiatives.

The technical details of the collaboration and implementation mechanisms are expected to be finalized, paving the way for the signing of a memorandum of understanding. Mohamed bin Ahmed Al Obaidli, a board member and chairman at the Qatar Chamber, underscored the organization's dedication to fostering connections between the private sector, government, academic institutions, startups, and international organizations.
