PTI MPA Rides Donkey Carts to Sindh Assembly in Protest Over Fuel Prices

Sajjad Ali Soomro, an MPA for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, journeyed to the Sindh Assembly in an unconventional manner - riding atop donkey carts. This protest was orchestrated in response to the recent surge in fuel prices. Soomro and fellow PTI members made the journey from a locale near the assembly's entrance, utilizing these carts as their mode of transportation.

They were adorned with banners and vocalized their discontent against the recent hike in fuel costs. Soomro elaborated that the high prices of petrol had rendered it unaffordable for legislators to commute to the assembly in their personal vehicles. The demonstrators were clamoring for the federal government to retract the price increase and provide respite to the general populace.

This protest was born out of mounting apprehension over the escalating petroleum prices. The Sindh Assembly had previously passed a resolution unanimously, urging the federal government to eliminate the petroleum levy and offer relief to consumers. This resolution was tabled by MP Muhammad Farooq from the Jamaat-e-Islami party. Ziaul Hasan Lanjar, the Sindh Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, stated that the issue was a matter for the federal government to address.

The assembly had also recently approved another resolution calling for an end to the daily increments in petroleum prices.
