Probe as church watchman found murdered in Kakamega

Detectives are currently probing the murder of a 70-year-old church watchman at the Mount Zion SDA Church of God in Kakamega County. The incident occurred on Friday, September 18, 2026, when the elderly man, Johnson Mukuba, was discovered dead within the church compound around 2:30 a.m. upon his cries for help. Police arrived at the scene and found Mukuba lifeless on the ground, with evidence indicating he had been struck on the head and had a fractured right hand.

His hands and legs were found bound with cloth straps. No signs of forced entry or stolen items were observed at the scene.

Meanwhile, another gruesome homicide took place in a tea plantation in Bundo Village, Nyamira County. The body of a 25-year-old man, Daudi Nyamoko, was discovered on Friday morning in Bonyamatuta Chache area within Township Sub-location. Police found Nyamoko lying on his back with his face covered in blood; his neck had been cut with a sharp object, and the left side of his face was severely mutilated.

Stab wounds were also visible on his right side. The crime scene was processed and documented by Crime Scene Investigation officers, and the body was transferred to the Nyamira County Referral Hospital mortuary for preservation until a postmortem examination could be conducted.
