PM Modi Says India’s FTAs Will Create New Career Opportunities For Youth

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Saturday that India's Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with various nations are generating new employment and growth opportunities for the country's youth. Speaking at a virtual Rozgar Mela, Modi expressed that global trust in India's talent, skills, and innovation ecosystem has intensified the expectations from young Indians.

He stated, "India signed 40 Free Trade Agreements. These FTAs are opening new doors of possibilities for our youth. Such trade agreements pave the way for new partnerships for our entrepreneurs, open paths to new markets, and create new possibilities in careers for our youth."

During the event, Modi distributed over 51,000 appointment letters to individuals newly recruited into various government departments and organizations. Modi emphasized that Yuva Shakti is central to India's journey towards a Viksit Bharat, or developed India. The Rozgar Mela symbolizes the government's dedication to creating fresh opportunities for young people.

Modi also highlighted the expansion of India's startup ecosystem beyond major cities, with a substantial number of recognized startups emerging from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. He noted, "India is today the world's third-largest startup ecosystem. And India's startup story is no longer just the story of big cities. Today, nearly half of recognized startups are in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities."

Referring to the recently concluded BRICS Summit, Modi argued that India's partnerships should involve entrepreneurs, farmers, women, and young people, rather than being restricted to government entities alone. He stressed that young government employees will play a crucial role in helping India achieve its goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.

Modi urged them to make decisions that reinforce the vision of a self-reliant India, saying, "In this, young people like you have a very significant role to play. While serving in the government, you must make every decision that continuously strengthens the campaign for a developed and self-reliant India." The 20th Rozgar Mela featured job fairs at 45 locations across India, with the Prime Minister's Office reporting that 12.75 lakh youngsters have received appointment letters through these employment initiatives thus far.
