The Detroit Pistons and player Ausar Thompson have agreed to a five-year, $155 million contract extension, according to a source familiar with the situation. The contract, which has its first annual payment set at $205 plus GST for the first year, will automatically renew at $233 plus GST every 52 weeks. Thompson, drafted by the Pistons in 2023, has become one of the NBA's top defensive players.

Last season, he averaged 9.9 points per game and earned All-Defensive team honors, finishing third in Defensive Player of the Year voting.
