‘Peter Obi most scrutinized ex-gov because of his presidency chances’ – Kanu’s lawyer, Ejimakor

Aloy Ejimakor, Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has stated that Peter Obi, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, is currently the most scrutinized former state governor in Nigeria. Ejimakor claims that Obi is the first Igbo man to have a "fighting chance" of becoming Nigeria's president since the Biafra civil war.

In a statement signed by Ejimakor, he praised Obi's tenure as Anambra State governor, highlighting his prudent financial management, absence of debt, and visible investments. Ejimakor asserts that Obi's scrutiny is not solely due to his governorship but also because he is running for the presidency. He argues that this scrutiny has transformed from a dispute between Anambra State Governor, Solomon Dasuki, and Obi, to a larger national conspiracy among ethnic partisans who are concerned about Obi's potential presidential success.

The lawyer also criticizes the double standard in Nigerian politics, where politicians with unexplained wealth and documented corruption histories can operate without consequence, while Obi faces intense scrutiny for his transparent and integrity-driven governance.
