PCB Announces $200,000 Cricket Development Award for PSL Franchises

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has introduced a new $200,000 Cricket Development Excellence Award for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises. This inaugural award evaluates the contributions made by PSL franchises in promoting cricket development in Pakistan from the third edition of the league through PSL 11. The primary focus areas include player pathways, development, grassroots and domestic engagement, high-performance infrastructure, player impact, and player welfare and education.

Franchises are required to self-assess their performance using a scoring model developed by the PSL, submit their scores and supporting evidence, and publish presentations showcasing their cricket development efforts on the PSL's official social media platforms. A five-member assessment committee composed of independent experts and PCB stakeholders will verify the submissions, accounting for 80% of the final score.

The remaining 20% will be determined by a fan vote. Player pathways, accounting for 25% of the assessment, will be the most heavily weighted category, followed by grassroots and domestic engagement at 20%, high-performance infrastructure and innovation at 15%, player impact and match contribution at 10%, and player welfare and education at 10%.
