On trophies from Paris and farewells to Jacobs and Peter

President Bola Tinubu spent the past three weeks in Europe, returning to the Aso Rock Villa this week. Last Sunday, he visited Paris for the second part of his European trip. This year, he plans to conclude his holiday in London. Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump was in the UK for a state visit. The week saw the president handling remote work, focusing on remote work for young Nigerians to create jobs.

Tinubu also received a favorable decision from an International Chamber of Commerce tribunal in Paris, which dismissed Sunrise Power and Transmission Company's claims against Nigeria. The tribunal ordered Sunrise and its promoter, Leno Adesanya, to refund most of the Federal Government's $11.82m legal bill. The president commended the Attorney General, the Paul Hastings defence team, the NSA, the EFCC, former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Muhammadu Buhari, and called the Mambilla Hydroelectric Power Project a significant legal hurdle.

The president is also reportedly attempting to mediate a dispute between the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, and aggrieved APC governors. However, the week also saw two notable losses: Peter Onwubuariri, the Assistant Director of Information and Public Relations at the Presidential Villa, passed away at 48, and veteran actor Olu Jacobs, who died at 84. The president remembered Jacobs as a giant of the Nigerian creative industry.
