No MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma: Pat Cummins names 'toughest' India player he faced

Pat Cummins, the Australian cricket captain, has faced several notable Indian players during his international career. However, when asked to name the toughest Indian opponent he has faced, Cummins did not choose prominent names like MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, or Rohit Sharma. Instead, he selected Cheteshwar Pujara as his toughest Indian opponent.

This choice was made during a promotional video for Prime Video Sport, where Cummins was asked to identify the most challenging player from various cricketing nations, including India, Pakistan, New Zealand, England, Sri Lanka, South Africa, and the West Indies. Pujara's reputation for being a difficult player to dismiss was well-known, particularly in Australia.

He played 25 Tests against Australia and amassed 2,074 runs at an impressive average of 49.38. Over half of these runs, 993, were scored in Australia, where Pujara scored three centuries and five half-centuries, including a highest score of 193. Pujara's resistance against Australia's pace attack, including Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood, was particularly evident during the 2018-19 and 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy series.
