No. 13 Texas Tech survives No. 22 Houston as a late 2-point try comes up short

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — J’Koby Williams and Cameron Dickey powered the defending Big 12 champion No. 13 Texas Tech Red Raiders to a 28-26 victory over No. 22 Houston Cougars on Friday night. Williams and Dickey each scored second-half touchdowns, while the Houston quarterback Conner Weigman missed a crucial 2-point conversion attempt in the final minute.

Weigman completed a 10-yard touchdown pass to Patrick Overmyer with 49 seconds remaining, but his knee hit the ground before the ball crossed the goal line, preventing a tie in the conference opener for both teams. Quarterback Will Hammond completed 17 of 27 passes for 257 yards and a touchdown, leading the Red Raiders (3-0, 1-0) to their first home game since 1941.
