Nkoranza and Mo traditional areas reach peace agreement

A major milestone has been reached in settling longstanding territorial and traditional disputes between the Nkoranza and Mo communities in Ghana's Bono East Region. Influential figures, including Mr Nick Danso Adjei, the Executive Chairman of Ghana Link Network Services Limited, and Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi, the Bono East Regional Minister, facilitated a peace dialogue on September 15, 2026.

The chiefs of both areas agreed to cease their disagreements, restore amicable relations, and dissolve the court cases stemming from the conflicts. This significant achievement addresses years of tension that had led to violent clashes over land and boundary disputes. The agreement acknowledges the deep historical, cultural, familial, and economic connections between the communities, favoring cooperative solutions over drawn-out litigation.

The implementation of the peace settlement is poised to foster a more stable environment for farming, commerce, and investment while encouraging residents to rebuild trust. Participants were urged to fully implement the agreement and establish mechanisms for peaceful dispute resolution in the future. This successful mediation underscores the potential for collaboration among traditional leaders, government officials, and private-sector stakeholders to promote peace and sustainable development across Ghana.
