Navi Mumbai Accountant Fraud: ₹40.58 Lakh Siphoned From Construction Firm Through Fake Vendor Bills, Forged Signatures

An accountant in Navi Mumbai allegedly stole Rs 40.58 lakh from a well-known construction company by creating fake bills in the names of valid vendors, forging signatures, and funneling the payments to the bank accounts of four friends. The fraud was uncovered when a vendor, Rituraj Singh, noticed that Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) was deposited into his account despite his company not having worked for the firm.

The company's marketing manager, Atriprasad Dubey, then reported the issue to the accounts department, who discovered that the bills lacked approval from the company owner and bore two fake stamps suggesting legitimate payments. Further examination of the company's bank statements and Tally records showed that the funds were not paid to the genuine vendors, but rather directed to the accounts of Dhadambe's associates: Rishikesh Hanumant R, Abhishek Popat Chavan, Aniket Vilas Kadam, and Aniket Nanasa Patole.

The investigation found that Dhadambe carried out 34 fraudulent transactions between February and December 2025, siphoning off the money using the company's cheque book and falsifying entries in their Tally ledger to make the transactions appear legitimate. The company is now conducting a thorough audit, and authorities are actively searching for the five accused who are currently on the run.
