MTN Ghana expands Savannahfest football gala to unearth grassroots talent

MTN Ghana has expanded its Savannahfest community football gala to a larger scale, aiming to uncover promising grassroots talent. The tournament, originally featuring just four teams last year, now includes 16 teams from various Northern Region communities. Richard Asamani, MTN Ghana's Area Sales Manager for the Northern Region, emphasized that the expanded competition serves to foster unity and identify players capable of reaching higher levels of the sport.

Football was selected as the main event due to its widespread popularity and its power to unite communities. Asamani highlighted that the initiative not only promotes community development but also provides a platform for young players to showcase their abilities. He expressed optimism that sustained investment in grassroots football could lead to the emergence of players representing Ghana on the global stage.

The football gala, part of Savannahfest, an annual festival celebrating and engaging northern Ghana communities, also includes a music festival, health walk, free health screenings, and a clean-up exercise at Tamale Teaching Hospital. These activities reflect MTN Ghana's commitment to community involvement and its broader mission of using its platforms to connect people and improve lives.

Asamani praised the quality of play in the opening matches, noting the presence of deep grassroots talent. He encouraged participating teams and players to take advantage of the opportunity to develop their skills and aim for greater opportunities beyond their communities.
