Millwall goalkeeper alleges he was spat at by West Ham’s Taty Castellanos

During their first encounter in 14 years, a fierce London derby between Millwall and West Ham erupted into controversy when Millwall goalkeeper Filip Marschall accused West Ham forward Taty Castellanos of spitting at him. The altercation occurred during the second half of the match, as Millwall led 2-0. Marschall appeared to delay releasing the ball after the West Ham player closed him down, then picked up the ball, prompting an allegation of spitting.

Referee Paul Tierney initially signaled a corner but later halted play and summoned both captains to the penalty box, signaling for Marschall to restart play. TV footage of the incident was inconclusive. Millwall manager Alex Neil confirmed the allegation, stating that Filip had mentioned the incident to the referee throughout the game.

West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo declined to comment on the allegations, stating that the game had much to discuss and was intense for both fans. The match ultimately ended in a 2-2 draw, with West Ham's Mohamadou Kante and Konstantinos Mavropanos scoring the goals, while Kante was sent off for a late tackle on Millwall's Kyrell Lisbie.
