Medvedev says US sanctions on Russia require military deterrence

Former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev has stated that Moscow's response to the recent US sanctions should encompass military deterrence. US President Donald Trump recently signed legislation imposing new sanctions targeting Russia's energy and defense sectors, as well as individuals such as President Vladimir Putin and other senior officials.

The law, named after late US Senator Lindsey Graham, comes after months of delays in Congress. Medvedev, now deputy chairman of Russia's Security Council, made his remarks on Telegram, emphasizing that even across the ocean, the US seems to understand only the language of direct military deterrence. He argued that this is the language Moscow should also employ as a response to anti-Russian actions like the Graham-named law.
