Masters of Miniature delivers minuscule upgradable Ryzen AI laptop — Mouse has a 12.2-inch screen, weighs 981g, but ain't on sale outside Japan

Mouse Computer has unveiled a diminutive laptop named the X2, weighing in at just 981 grams. This compact device houses a 12.2-inch display with a resolution of 1920 by 1200 pixels. The frame measures 277.1 mm in width, 210.2 mm in depth, and stands 19 mm tall, offering a single vacant SODIMM slot for future RAM expansions.

Buyers can select from three AMD processors, each tailored to varying performance and price points. The base model, powered by the Ryzen 5 216, comprises two full Zen 4 cores and four smaller Zen 4c cores, delivering performance akin to AMD's Ryzen 5 8540U. An upgrade option, the Ryzen AI 5 340, belongs to AMD's Krackan Point series and matches Intel's Core Ultra 7 165H in multicore benchmarks, outperforming Intel's Core Ultra 5 325.

The premium Ryzen AI 7 350 model features eight cores, evenly divided between four Zen 5 and four Zen 5c units, outpacing Intel's Core Ultra 9 185H in multi-threaded and synthetic benchmark tests.

The laptop's display boasts 100% sRGB color coverage, a 180-degree hinge, a 60 Wh battery, and a 500 GB NVMe SSD. Connectivity options encompass gigabit LAN, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5, USB Type-A ports, HDMI output, and a microSD card slot for additional storage. A 2 MP webcam with a privacy shutter supports Windows Hello, and the system ships with preinstalled Windows 11 Home.

Battery life extends to approximately 12.5 hours for video playback and around 25 hours in idle mode, according to JEITA 3.0 standards. Pricing is currently limited to the Japanese market, with the Ryzen AI 5 variant priced at ¥239,800 ($1,545) and the Ryzen AI 7 configuration at ¥259,000 ($1,670). The device's release is set to commence in October, with shipments exclusively through Mouse Computer's official online store in Japan, currently available in Cosmo Blue, Frost Gold, and Pearl White color variants.
