Loke’s decision shows DAP puts politics first, says Umno veteran

An Umno veteran, Othman Desa, has criticized DAP members of the Cabinet for not separating their personal feelings from their public responsibilities, following DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook's resignation as transport minister. Desa, a head of the Umno Veterans group, argued that Loke's decision threatens the government and demonstrates that political interests are being prioritized over unity within the government.

Desa stated, "We must separate politics from personal feelings and public responsibility. These DAP leaders look like they're playing around. No sense of sincerity or responsibility to the people." Loke cited the conditional pardon granted to former Prime Minister Najib Razak as the reason for his resignation, emphasizing that he would be the only DAP leader to leave his position in order to maintain political stability.

He maintained that his resignation was a responsible decision and that it would not jeopardize the transport ministry's operations if accepted by the Prime Minister.
