'I am pro-Abraham': Meet the unlikely allies risking everything for peace with Israel

In the Middle East, even casual conversations about weather across borders can have serious legal consequences. Countries often restrict or criminalize contact with Israelis, making any interaction risky. The Abrahamic Movement aims to overcome these barriers by uniting Israelis with people from the Muslim world, focusing on their shared Abrahamic roots.The movement gained attention after the October 7, 2023 terrorist attack, which resulted in 1,200 deaths.

CEO Tom Wegner started the group in 2019, leveraging his background in the IDF and working with various contacts. Wegner emphasized that the region's instability has existed for a long time, citing examples such as the Yazidi genocide, civil wars in Yemen and Iraq, and conflicts that followed. He explained that the Western world also faced instability before the European Union's formation, driven by civil unrest, invasions, and two world wars.Wegner believes that the Abrahamic Movement can create a collective identity similar to the European one, recognizing that all parties involved in the conflict share the Abrahamic narrative.

This common heritage makes it essential to view conflicts as family fights rather than occupiers and colonists. He rejects the simplistic Western approach of drawing lines on maps, instead advocating for a broader "in-group" to reduce in-group versus out-group conflicts.The Muslim Brotherhood and its Shia alternatives, like Hezbollah, are highlighted as significant obstacles.

Wegner argues that these groups provide all-encompassing ideologies that draw individuals away from opposing ideologies. He believes that the Abrahamic Islam concept, based on the Quran's promise of the Children of Israel's return to the promised land, could help end wars against extremist groups.
