HT exclusive: Gurugram cops upload murdered man's info under wrong category on Zipnet portal

Two construction workers tragically lost their lives after falling from the 19th floor of a building site in Gurugram’s Sector 113, according to police reports released on Saturday. The victims, Dilkhush from Katihar, Bihar and Vasudev from West Bengal, succumbed to their injuries in the hours that followed the incident. According to Sandeep Turan, the public relations officer of Gurugram police, Vasudev met his end instantly while Dilkhush, who was caught on an intermediate floor, succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital on the same day.

The exact sequence of events leading to the tragedy is yet to be determined during the ongoing police investigation. Neither of the deceased families have yet lodged any formal complaints, suggesting either a lack of awareness or reluctance to lay blame. If, however, the families allege foul play or negligence, the police are prepared to register an FIR against the responsible contractor or construction firm officials.

The bodies of the workers were transported to the government mortuary for autopsy, which will be conducted once the families provide their statements or submit a written complaint. The incident has sparked protests at the construction site, with workers accusing the firm of inadequate safety measures. These demonstrators have also been seen attacking at least two employees from the construction firm and damaging a police emergency vehicle that arrived at the scene in response to the distress call.
