History weighs heavy on Nottingham Forest as Coventry City earn first win

Nottingham Forest manager Oliver Glasner admitted that his players were "nervous" and weighed down by the "heaviness of the past" in a Premier League match against Coventry City on Saturday evening. Frank Lampard's side secured their first victory in the league in 25 years, thanks to a goal from Jay Dasilva in the 55th minute. The Tricky Trees initially believed they had equalised late in the game when Igor Jesus scored from close range, however, the goal was disallowed after a VAR review confirmed that Jesus had tripped up Caleb Yirenkyi.

Glasner was left feeling "frustrated" and "disappointed" by the result, but took responsibility for the defeat. He told BBC Match of the Day, "We wanted three points and the players gave everything until the end, but we made one big mistake, one big mistake from the goalkeeper. We tried everything until the end but we have to blame ourselves. It’s the third home game without a goal and that makes it difficult to win."

Forest have only managed to win once at home since last Christmas, and Glasner believes that the history of the two-time European Cup winners contributes to the pressure they face when playing at their own ground. "We have to find a solution, today was the first time I could feel the heaviness of the past, it was very quiet in the dressing room," he said.

"When we conceded the goal, everyone was nervous, the entire City Ground was nervous and I think this is the reason behind last year's struggles. There is nobody to blame, the solution is to play with more freedom and more confidence."
