Gov Yahaya Commends Peaceful Conduct of Gombe By-Election

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, praised the orderly and peaceful manner in which the recent by-election for the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency took place. While casting his own vote, the governor expressed satisfaction with the high voter turnout, viewing it as evidence of citizens' commitment to democracy.

He highlighted the election's organization and peaceful atmosphere, as well as the enthusiasm of voters in participating in the democratic process. Yahaya also expressed confidence in his party's chances of winning, crediting the increased acceptance of the party to the substantial development achievements during his leadership.

He received positive reports from other areas within the constituency regarding the election's conduct. The governor emphasized the significance of the peaceful election outcome for future electoral events, specifically the 2027 general elections. He called upon voters, political figures, and other stakeholders to continue maintaining a peaceful environment and behaving responsibly throughout the remainder of the election process.

The by-election is being held in all 903 polling locations across the three local government areas of Gombe, Kwami, and Funakaye, in order to fill a vacant seat in the House of Representatives following the death of the former member, Hon. Yaya Bauchi Tongo, who passed away on June 12, 2026 after being hospitalized in Abuja.
