Ghana coach Queiroz names 21-man squad for 2027 AFCON qualifiers double-header

Carlos Queiroz, the newly appointed Black Stars coach, has unveiled a 21-man squad for Ghana's upcoming AFCON qualifier matches. The lineup, a mix of seasoned players and promising newcomers, is poised to embark on preparations for the international assignments. The first match on Ghana's fixture list is against Côte d'Ivoire in Bouaké on September 24, followed by a home game against The Gambia in Accra on September 29. The final match of the cycle takes the form of a friendly against Morocco in Tangier on October 4, 2026.

The squad reintroduces experienced players alongside younger talents, providing a balance of familiarity and fresh energy as Ghana gears up for the three matches. The goalkeepers on duty include Benjamin Asare, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, and Joseph Anang. Defenders such as Gideon Mensah, Baba Rahman, and Jan Gyamerah, along with Derrick Luckassen, Nathaniel Adjei, Jerome Opoku, and Alexander Djiku, will form the defensive backbone.

Midfielders like Kwasi Sibo, Caleb Yirenkyi, Augustine Boakye, Ronald Donkor, and Ibrahim Sulemana will control the game's tempo. In attack, Christopher Bonsu Baah, Ernest Nuamah, Mohammed Kudus Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Antoine Semenyo, Ibrahim Osman, Prince Adu Kwabena, and Jordan Ayew will be the primary scorers.
