From international tennis tournaments to new DUSU president: Who is ABVP's Yash Dabas?

In the recent 2026-27 DUSU elections, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) candidate Yash Dabas emerged as the new president, defeating National Students Union of India (NSUI) candidate Vijay Shankar Meena with a vote count of 24,576 to 22,523. Dabas, who graduated from Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College and is currently studying Buddhist Studies at Delhi University, has an impressive sporting background in competitive tennis.

He has participated in International Tennis Federation tournaments in countries like Spain, Australia, and Serbia, and has represented the University of Delhi in various sporting events. During his campaign, Dabas focused on issues such as student safety, affordable accommodation, and addressing the concerns of nearly 1.5 lakh students of Delhi University.

His running mates for the 2026-27 term are Riya Chhawdi, who secured the secretary position with 21,650 votes, and Lakshya Raj Singh, who was elected joint secretary with 16,615 votes.
