Forbes: Ed Sheeran ticket prices halved after Macklemore's removal

Pop superstar Ed Sheeran returned to the stage in Philadelphia for his first show since controversy erupted over pro-Palestinian comments made by his opening act, rapper Macklemore. Macklemore was removed from Sheeran's US Loop Tour on Monday due to objections from stadium owners, although Sheeran denied personal involvement in the decision.

Four other supporting acts also quit the tour, including Sheeran's backing band and singer Finneas, who collaborated with his sister Billie Eilish. The 35-year-old British performer maintains an apolitical stance despite the growing number of artists addressing the conflict in Gaza and West Bank settler violence. Sheeran stated on Instagram that while he has personal views on the issue, he understands that concertgoers do not expect a political forum at his shows.

The controversy has led to boycott calls, with critics accusing him of failing to take a stand against stadium owners. Local police will maintain a presence at Sheeran's Lincoln Financial Field show, while the resale market for tickets shows a decline as some audience members are indifferent to the controversy.
