Education Minister Makes Surprise Visits to Western Region SHS…….Announces Improved Meals for Students

Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu conducted surprise inspections at senior high schools in the Western Region to evaluate the initial setup for first-year students. The visits included Tarkwa Senior High School, Asankragwa Senior High School, and Asankragwa Technical Institute. The Minister aimed to ensure that newly admitted students commenced their academic year under suitable conditions, interacting with staff and students while inspecting arrangements for new entrants.

His unannounced presence reportedly boosted morale, with both students and faculty appreciative of his attention.

At Asankragwa Senior High School, the Minister unveiled plans to incorporate eggs and chicken into the meals served to students, indicating an initiative to enhance the nutritional value of the meals provided under the secondary education system. The announcement coincided with schools welcoming large numbers of first-year students from the recent admission exercise, highlighting the importance of accommodations, feeding, teaching facilities, and general student welfare.

The Minister's monitoring efforts were set to continue in the Central Region, where he planned to visit schools to gauge the readiness and integration of first-year students.
