Desak singkir Umno dari Kabinet atas pengampunan Najib, DAP diberitahu

The DAP Executive Committee will convene tonight to decide the party's stance and subsequent actions regarding the conditional pardon for former Prime Minister Najib Razak. Former DAP leader Ong Kian Ming says the party should give its two cents to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and urge him to remove Umno from the Cabinet after Najib's conditional pardon.

He believes the DAP must prove the red line for them is freeing Najib, as supporters anticipate the party will respond with concrete action. This means demanding Anwar remove Umno from the Cabinet before the next meeting to show Pakatan Harapan's rejection of Umno's attempt to obtain pardon for Najib and collect RM50 million fines from the former PM.

Deputy Prime Minister and interim Umno President Zahid Hamidi has openly challenged Anwar to remove Umno members from the Cabinet for several months. Ong warns that this is a prime opportunity for Anwar to respond to Zahid's challenge, stating that the 2027 budget can still be approved without the support of 30 National Front MPs.

Ong says the move is more logical than DAP placing itself in the Cabinet. He believes Nga Kor Ming, who once said he would resign from a ministerial position if BN won big in Johor and Najib was freed, should be the one to take the ministerial seat if available. DAP can also demand the withdrawal of its support for the government as a whole, but this could lead to the dissolution of Parliament as Barisan Nasional is expected to do the same for Anwar to lose majority support.

However, this action is riskier as it could undermine the foundation of PH and raise questions about whether DAP should remain in the coalition. If the 1MDB scandal and Najib's house arrest truly are the red line for DAP, then the party should withdraw from the Cabinet and step down from the government if Anwar does not agree to the demands.
