Delivery rider, 64, dies after reportedly feeling unwell & falling into Tanah Merah condo swimming pool

A 64-year-old Grab delivery rider named Wang Zhi Cong passed away after falling into a swimming pool at a condominium in Tanah Merah Kechil Avenue, Singapore. The incident occurred around 8:40pm on September 17. He was found unconscious in the pool and subsequently taken to a hospital, where he later died. Authorities have confirmed receiving a call for assistance at the location, and the Singapore Civil Defence Force conveyed one person to Changi General Hospital. Preliminary investigations suggest no foul play, and police investigations are ongoing.

Wang was married for 10 years and had no children. His wife, who was described as deeply distressed by her husband's sudden death, went to the mortuary on September 18 to collect his body and subsequently arrange for his cremation at Mandai Crematorium. Wang had previously worked as a salesperson before becoming a delivery rider.

He and his wife spoke on the phone earlier that day, but Wang's wife was unable to reach him later that evening. A colleague of Wang's wife confirmed that the couple had a close relationship, but the sudden nature of Wang's death made it difficult for his widow to come to terms with the loss. Grab, the delivery service, expressed heartfelt condolences to Wang's family and confirmed that they are providing full support during this difficult time. They are also cooperating with the ongoing investigation into the incident.
