Carrot Top Hospitalized Following Suicide Attempt

Comedian Carrot Top, whose real name is Scott Christopher Thompson, has been hospitalized in Las Vegas following a reported suicide attempt, according to his representative, Jami Schlicher. Thompson, who is 61 years old, is currently receiving the necessary care and support at the hospital. His family and close friends have expressed their gratitude for the concern and prayers, and have respectfully requested privacy during this difficult time.

Thompson's hospitalization has led to the cancellation of his upcoming show at the Luxor hotel. The source of his distress was not elaborated on by his representative. Known for his extravagant prop comedy, flashy hair, and successful career in Las Vegas, Thompson first gained recognition in 1991 when he performed on the comedy showcase series "Comic Strip Live" and "Star Search." He went on to star in his own comedy special, "Carrot Top Rocks Las Vegas," in 2003 at the MGM Grand.

Apart from his stand-up career, Thompson has also made numerous appearances on various TV shows and specials, such as "Scrubs," "Larry the Cable Guy’s Christmas Spectacular," "Space Ghost Coast to Coast," "Reno 911!" and "George Lopez." He also served as the producer and star of the Comedy Central series "Carrot Top's AM Mayhem" from 1994 to 1996. Thompson's most notable residency is at the Luxor, where he has been performing since 2005 and holds the record for the longest running residency in Las Vegas.
