Carrick confident Man Utd can 'work through' tough time

Michael Carrick, the Manchester United manager, anticipates the team will endure a challenging period amid a disappointing start to the current season. Appointed permanently following a temporary stint last season, Carrick led United to third place in the Premier League and back into the Champions League. However, United have managed only four points from their opening four league games this season, and were eliminated from the League Cup by Brighton in a 3-2 defeat, after conceding a two-goal lead at Old Trafford for the first time in 50 years.

Carrick, speaking ahead of Sunday's match against Fulham, explained that any successful team inevitably goes through periods of difficulty, improvement, and resurgence. He added that his side is in the midst of such a challenging spell, and while they had performed well last season, this season has presented some minor setbacks.

United's recent losses included a narrow defeat at Everton, where Toffees defender Ainsley Maitland-Niles scored a remarkable goal. Carrick emphasized that winning games is crucial, and even small disappointments can sometimes lead to more significant issues. The manager pointed out that it's all part of coping and being at this esteemed football club.

With key players Luke Shaw potentially returning from injury and Carlos Bacca possibly making his first appearance since moving from Brighton for £70 million ($95 million), Carrick believes these developments could provide a much-needed boost for the team.
