A 17-year-old boy, Zakariya Butt, from Sattarpura, Kharian, was injured by a lion at a businessman's outhouse in the Thapla area of Kharian. The incident occurred on Thursday when Butt and his friend visited the outhouse to observe the lions kept there. Initially, doctors at the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Kharian treated the injuries as if they were from a dog bite.
However, upon further examination, it was revealed that a lion had inflicted the wounds. Butt was then transferred to Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital (ABSTH), where he was informed that he was no longer in danger. In response to the attack, the Wildlife Department visited the outhouse, seized the lions, and filed a case against the owner.
Saddar Kharian police registered a complaint against the outhouse owner under provisions of the Pakistan Penal Code and the Punjab Wildlife (Protection, Preservation, Conservation and Management) Act, 1974.
