Beer bar operator shot dead in Pune’s Shirur following previous dispute

On Friday morning, a beer bar operator named Harish, also known as Hari Dadabhau Gangawane, was shot dead in Shirur taluka of Pune district, India. The police suspect that the murder was the result of a previous dispute between Gangawane and the assailants identified as Rohit Sonawane, Aniket Gavhane, and Aditya Pawar. The police have obtained clues about the accused from a CCTV video that captured the murder incident.

Gangawane operated a beer bar in Shirur and had been involved in a quarrel with the accused just a few months prior, over payment of money. In that altercation, Gangawane had physically confronted the assailants, leading to their anger and desire for revenge. On Thursday night, the assailants confronted Gangawane near Dr B R Ambedkar chowk in Shirur, but were deterred by local residents.

The next morning, Gangawane, along with his friend, visited a relative of an accused. Later that day, the three accused persons followed Gangawane on a motorcycle and fired bullets at him from country-made pistols while he was passing through a narrow lane. Gangawane was hit by a bullet and died at the scene. His friend escaped unharmed.

Police teams, led by inspector Vinod Patil of Shirur police station and inspector Pramod Kshirsagar of the local crime branch, have been dispatched to trace the assailants.
