Athlos: Amusan ends 2026 season with second-place finish

Nigerian athlete Tobi Amusan secured a second-place finish in the women's 100m hurdles at the Athlos meeting in London on Friday, earning $35,000 for her performance. Amusan, who previously held the world record, clocked 12.51 seconds, just 0.01 seconds behind the American champion Alaysha Johnson, who won the race in a time of 12.50 seconds.

This result marks the end of Amusan's 2026 season. The event, which took place at StoneX Stadium in Barnet, saw Jamaican Commonwealth Games champion and world indoor record holder Devynne Charlton finish third with a time of 12.63 seconds, tied with Jamaica’s Danielle Williams, a former world champion, who placed fourth. Megan Simmonds of Jamaica secured fifth place, while Rayniah Jones of the United States came in sixth.

Alaysha Johnson's victory marks her 40th race of the season. Johnson had previously defeated Amusan at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest, Hungary, taking home $75,000 for her win. The Athlos series, a professional, female-only track and field series, was created by Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian and features a prize purse of $2.1 million.
