Air quality dips nationwide, Sarawak records seven unhealthy API readings, Klang Valley four, Johor three

On September 19, 17 regions across Malaysia experienced unhealthy air quality, as reported by the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS), according to data released at 4 pm local time. Sarawak experienced the most areas with unhealthy readings, with seven locations including IPD Serian, Kuching, Sri Aman, Samarahan, Sibu, Sarikei, and Bintulu.

Johor and Perak each had three areas with unhealthy API readings, while Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, and Melaka also reported unhealthy conditions. In contrast, 38 areas were deemed to have moderate air quality and 12 areas were categorized as having good air quality. The Air Pollutant Index ranges from zero to 301, where 0-50 indicates good air quality, 51-100 moderate, 101-200 unhealthy, 201-300 very unhealthy, and 301 and above hazardous.
