Abu Dhabi's Yas Island gets new Dh6 billion community with launch of THE WADI

Abu Dhabi's Yas Island has welcomed a new Dh6 billion mixed-use community called THE WADI. Spanning 140,700 square metres, THE WADI houses 3,950 residential units ranging from studios to three-bedroom apartments. Alongside the homes, the development boasts commercial, recreational, and sports facilities, as well as plans for a hotel.

Cosmo Developments, a joint venture between Abu Dhabi-based Flag Holding Group and Reportage Group, spearheads THE WADI's creation. Reportage Group oversees the project from development to long-term management. The development is rooted in the UAE's natural landscapes and water journey, aiming to create a modern, connected living experience.

THE WADI's centerpiece is a central valley, with pedestrian, running, and cycling paths, a waterfront, and a yacht marina. The community integrates residential, leisure, hospitality, and commercial uses in one location. Spanning parks, sports and leisure facilities, including tennis clubs, gyms, spas, and children's areas, and restaurants and retail spaces, THE WADI incorporates native planting, ghaf and palm trees, water features, and open pathways.

Design elements like landscaped balconies and building orientation respond to climate, fostering air movement across the site.

Units feature private balconies or terraces, with standard features like fitted kitchens, tiled bathrooms, double-glazed windows, central air conditioning, and parking. Andrea Nucera, Managing Director at Cosmo Developments and Group Managing Director at Reportage Group, commented that THE WADI reflects the evolution of Reportage's approach to creating mixed-use residential communities that align with their location, residents' needs, and market expectations.

The project also aims to enhance Abu Dhabi's appeal as a destination for residents, investors, and visitors while contributing to the island's growth as a global living, investment, and tourism hub.
