6 injured after vehicle strikes pedestrians at Quebec festival

Around 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, six individuals were struck by a vehicle and sustained injuries in St.-Tite, Quebec, during the early hours of the day. The incident occurred on Boulevard St-Joseph, where a 10-day Festival Western de St-Tite was being held. Police were immediately called to the scene, and the vehicle fled the area.

However, it was later discovered in Quebec City. A man in his twenties was subsequently arrested and will be questioned by investigators. The victims suffered a range of injuries, some of which are severe. Police are currently investigating the incident to determine if it was intentional. Quebec provincial police spokesperson and Premier Christine Frechette expressed condolences to the victims and noted that an ongoing investigation will reveal the circumstances.

Premier Frechette is in close communication with the deputy premier and minister of domestic security, Ian Lafrenière, who stated that while few details are known, all resources are being allocated to the case. Premier Frechette also thanked first responders. Parti Quebecois leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon expressed his thoughts with the injured and witnesses and praised the work of first responders.
