337,000 pensioners obtain proof of life certificates in a month

Islamabad witnessed a significant milestone as over 337,000 pensioners secured their Proof of Life certificates since its inception on August 20, 2026, according to official data released by the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra). This official document serves to confirm the pensioner's status as alive. Nadra reported that 174,906 pensioners, or 52 percent, obtained the certificate via the Pak ID app from the comfort of their homes.

A substantial 134,521 (40 percent) secured the certificate at Nadra Registration Centres, while 24,248 (7 percent) used e-Sahulat centres and 3,585 (1 percent) availed themselves of mobile registration vans. Nadra emphasized that pensioners could acquire the certificate via any convenient Nadra service channel due to its online accessibility.

The authority cautioned against misleading rumors and encouraged pensioners to reach out to the Nadra helpline, their nearest Nadra office, or an e-Sahulat centre in case of grievances. If a pensioner's CNIC number was not included in the list of beneficiaries, they were advised to contact the relevant department. The Proof of Life Certificate initiative was launched in response to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's directives, aiming to enhance pensioner services.

Nadra noted that the convenience of obtaining the certificate digitally through the Pak ID mobile application was the most straightforward option. Additionally, pensioners could also obtain the certificate for free at over 5,000 e-Sahulat franchises, 988 Nadra Registration Centres, and 500 Union Councils, where they receive preferential service without enduring the regular waiting time.

Mobile registration vans, biker services, and ManPack registration services catered to pensioners with limited mobility or access. Nadra's Proof of Life certificate service is part of a broader reform, establishing a National Pensioners Register where CGA and MAG-administered pensioners were integrated into the register in Phase I. This reform provides a digital reference for identity and life-status verification, enabling a digital channel for pension disbursement and reducing the reliance on physical or paper-based verification.

Nadra aims to expand the register in the next phase to include pensioners from various federal and provincial government organizations, public-sector bodies, and private institutions, pending necessary agreements and institutional arrangements.
