200-Kg Iron Beam Falls From 13th Floor At Kanjurmarg Construction Site, Contractor And Safety Staff Booked

Mumbai witnessed a startling incident on September 18 when a 200-kg iron beam plummeted from the 13th floor of a construction site near the Kanjurmarg police station. The beam narrowly missed a major accident, narrowly missing a major accident and narrowly missing injuring anyone. No one was harmed in the incident, but it did cause damage to the tin roofing of the office located at the office entrance.

The police have taken action against the contractor, site engineer, and safety supervisors for allegedly neglecting safety measures at the construction site. The officials involved are Mitesh Jain, Dhanraj Ramchandra Jagtap and Vikram and Sohel Mirza. The assistant police sub-inspector on duty, Vishwas Dashrath Desai, was alerted to the incident around noon when he heard a loud noise and found the massive beam lying in front of the office entrance.

The beam had reportedly fallen from the construction site multiple times before, with small stones, gravel and iron rods being reported as falling near the office. The contractor had allegedly been warned about the issue by the police. No injuries were reported, but the impact damaged the tin roofing of the office.

The police have registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the contractor and safety supervisors, alleging negligence that endangered lives and personal safety. Further investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
