Zelensky: Ukraine and Poland should be “mature partners” and focus on joint projects

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Romanian President Nicușor Dan have both declared their backing for Ukraine and emphasized the significance of promoting cooperation among Carpathian region nations through the newly established C8 format.

During a visit to Ukraine, Tusk reiterated his commitment to standing by Ukraine in its struggle against Russian aggression, stating that the nation's sovereignty and security are inextricably linked to Poland's own. He also pointed out that the Carpathian format could aid Ukraine's journey towards joining the European Union, citing Poland's relevant experience in this regard.

Romanian President Dan echoed these sentiments, reiterating that Romania will continue to offer its support to Ukraine throughout the ongoing conflict. He further explained that the new C8 format could facilitate interconnectedness among participating nations in various sectors, including economy, road infrastructure, energy, tourism, and defense. Dan highlighted Romania's expertise in the nuclear energy sector and the importance of the summit's business forum in forging economic ties between the countries of the region.

Tusk, for his part, reaffirmed his pledge to continue supporting Ukraine in its fight against aggression, firmly believing that Ukraine's sovereignty and security are also vital to Poland's own. Both leaders acknowledged the necessity of addressing complex issues between Ukraine and Poland, particularly those stemming from their shared history.
