Woman On Honeymoon Suffers Severe Burns During Barbecue At Bengal Homestay

A honeymoon couple from West Bengal found themselves in a medical crisis after the bride suffered severe burns during a barbeque at a homestay in Darjeeling. The incident took place on September 13 at Sittong Aura Homestay, where the pair had booked their stay online. The husband, Souvik Das, has filed a written complaint with the Kurseong Police Station, requesting the registration of a FIR and action against the homestay and the individual allegedly responsible for the incident.

Nikita Saha, the bride, sustained significant burns while sitting around a bonfire at the homestay. According to Das, at around 8:22 PM, a homestay worker allegedly poured an unidentified liquid chemical into the fire, causing the flames to intensify and quickly engulf Nikita. Das also sustained burns to his hand while trying to address the situation.

CCTV footage surfaced showing the alleged incident, capturing the horrifying moment. The family claims there were no fire extinguishers or immediate assistance available at the property when the accident occurred. The couple had to travel around three hours to reach medical help at Anandoloke Hospital in Siliguri, where Nikita was later transferred to Desun Hospital for further treatment.

Her condition remains extremely critical. The family has sought FIR and legal action against the homestay authorities and the individual responsible for the incident. They allege negligence and seek the highest punishment for those responsible. The allegations are under police investigation, with CCTV footage and other gathered evidence potentially forming part of the investigation.
