Who Was Surinder Koli? Nithari Killing Accused Dies By Suicide In His Tea Shop In Haridwar

Surendra Koli, the former domestic helper at the center of the Nithari serial killings, passed away by suicide in his Haridwar tea shop on Friday. The accused, who had spent two decades in prison after being convicted in the case, was found dead at his tea shop in the Bhupatwala area. Police took his body into custody and launched an investigation.

Koli was accused of participating in a series of murders that made headlines in December 2006, after the skeletal remains of eight children and additional bodies were discovered in Nithari village, Noida. The case involved the alleged murders of 19 victims, mostly poor children and young women who had gone missing from the area.

Koli was initially convicted in 13 different cases, but his convictions were overturned by the Allahabad High Court in October 2023 and the Supreme Court in July 2025, leading to his acquittal and release.
