Volta Regional House of Chiefs signs four agreements to attract Chinese investments

The Volta Regional House of Chiefs (VRHC) has inked four strategic agreements with Chinese entities to bolster investment, technology transfer, infrastructure development, and aquaculture in the Volta Region. This was during a delegation's week-long visit to China, aimed at forging international partnerships to foster sustainable development.

The first Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was inked with Guangdong Welleap Information Technology Company, a tech firm, to foster digital transformation and technology transfer. The second MoU, with Foshan Jinting Construction Engineering Company Limited, centers on infrastructure and industrial development. A third comprehensive investment agreement was sealed with SINOHUI Investment Ghana Limited to facilitate Chinese direct investment into Ghana.

The fourth pact, with Moaming Yuantian Food Co., Ltd., a leading Chinese aquaculture firm, zeroes in on commercial fish farming in the Volta Basin. Moaming Yuantian Food Co., Ltd. boasts a daily tilapia processing capacity of 150,000 kilograms spread across nine lines, and operates over 260,000 mu of tilapia ponds, exporting to more than 70 countries.

The aquaculture partnership seeks to boost fish production, generate jobs, and catalyze commercial fish farming in the Volta Basin. The agreements, facilitated under Ghana’s Ambassador to China, Mr Kojo Bonsu, through a strategic investment mission, underscore the VRHC's commitment to positioning the Volta Region and Ghana for sustainable growth via international collaborations.

Togbe Tepre Hodo, the VRHC President and delegation leader, highlighted that these agreements will hasten digital transformation, infrastructure development, and industrial growth, while the aquaculture deal will usher in Chinese capital and expertise to support key regional sectors like aquaculture.
