Valve’s open-source ‘Lepton’ brings Android games to the $1,059 Steam Frame

Valve has released its open-source Lepton tool to help developers port Android-native games to Linux and the Steam Frame. The tool is available on GitHub and can be used primarily for porting games to the Steam Frame, which is a virtual reality headset priced at $1,059. Valve explains that Lepton is a client-side tool for the Steam client, allowing Android-exclusive games to run on the Linux operating system.

While most users should use the Lepton provided by the Steam Client, developers can also use Lepton to port Meta Quest games to the Steam Frame. Some developers have already begun using Lepton for this purpose. The Steam Frame, which features a Snapdragon processor, is expected to launch in early June. A waitlist for the headset is now open.
