US, Denmark reach Greenland security agreement - Trump

The United States, Denmark, and Greenland have reached an agreement that will see a substantial military presence developed on the island by the US, according to President Donald Trump. In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated that no enemies of the US would be able to make sensitive investments on the island without US approval, and the agreement does not have an expiration date.

Trump directed officials to work with Danish and Greenlandic representatives to ensure that the US would have "FOREVER" the ability to secure and defend Greenland's security and that of the United States. Additionally, from now on, no US adversary can ever establish a base in Greenland, have a military presence in the island, or make sensitive investments there without US express written approval.

Earlier reports indicated that the US and Greenland were nearing a deal for an enhanced military presence on the island, but were not closing in on acquiring the island itself as Trump has long desired.
